The window can be easily opened underneath the cover to let in extra fresh air.Blackout Covers for the Side Doors
The best camping accessories are those that serve multiple purposes—just like our cab blackout covers. Not only do they create a pleasantly dark interior in your van and ensure a comfortable cabin climate, but they also offer practical storage space. Compatible with the VW T4; also available as a more affordable Complete Set—including protection for the windshield!
The blackout covers simply slip over the side doors. Two straps, routed around the side mirrors, provide additional stability. Since the water-repellent hoods wrap around both the inside and outside of the doors, you can easily leave the windows open underneath them. Perfect for an optimal cabin climate: a spacer bar on the outside keeps the ventilation gap open, while an interior mosquito net prevents insects from entering the vehicle.
Watertight—Even in the Rain
The fabric is water-repellent. No moisture seeps in, even between the door and the roof rail. In the rain, water simply beads up and rolls right off the fabric. After a rainy night, you can usually just give the covers a quick wipe-down and pack them away. However, if it has rained heavily—or after a snowfall—the exterior of the fabric may be damp. In such cases, you can simply fold the damp sides against each other and roll the covers up loosely. This keeps your trunk area largely dry. Then, as soon as the sun comes out, you can spread the covers out again, and they will dry in no time.
Please note: The fabric is not UV-resistant. Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight may result in color fading.
Will these blackout covers fit over doors equipped with wind deflectors?
Yes, the hoods are sized specifically to ensure they can be fitted over side doors that have wind deflectors installed.
Installing the Blackout Cover
Here is how to ensure the blackout cover stays securely in place:Open the driver's or passenger's door. Select the blackout cover corresponding to that side.
Then, slip the cover over the door. Pull the hood down as far as it will go and secure it by tying the straps around the side mirror. Done!
Now you can open the window, and the outer section of the cover—held in place by Velcro-fastened spacers—will keep a gap open. This allows more fresh air to flow into the van.
Packed Size of the Blackout Covers
The side covers fold down compactly to a size slightly larger than a standard DIN A4 sheet. The front blackout cover also folds down small; thanks to its insulating layer, the resulting bundle is only slightly thicker than the side covers.Additional Information
